Neighborhood Groups |

A neighborhood group is a part of a chapter of the American Sewing Guild. It is organized by members of a chapter to get together and discuss sewing topics that interest them. Often the group gets started because its “founders” live near each other in the same neighborhood or small town within the area served by the chapter. Sometimes neighborhood groups are formed because the participants are interested in a particular area of sewing, like machine embroidery, and draw from the whole chapter instead of just one locale. What Happens at a Neighborhood Group Meeting? A meeting will consist of a short “business and announcements” segment, a program (presented most often by someone from the group), and the “show and tell” portion, during which all members are encouraged to show their sewing projects. And many neighborhood groups depend on the “refreshments” part of the meeting to keep their creative juices flowing. A neighborhood group meeting should be informal, fun, inclusive, and a learning experience for the participants. And it is the group leader who can make this happen.
